On 18 June 2015 Christopher from Cognitive Ink was pleased to be part of a collaborative evening co-hosted by the Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) and HealthTech Sydney. The event was focused on exploring the challenges and potential associated with using wearable devices in healthcare.
Christopher presented on the importance of the user experience (UX) to shape and design integrated healthcare frameworks. His presentation "One device or many?" discussed the risks involved in the ever-increasingly more complicated web of wearable devices.
On a panel which included Dr Mike Bainbridge, Kelly Tall and Christopher, questions arose around the tension between a paternalistic model of healthcare versus the more chaotic and dynamic model of healthcare posted by the fusion of wearable devices and smart algorithms.
